On Thursday 27 May, I will be heading to the glamorous One Marylebone for the American InterContinental University Graduate Fashion Show. The event will kick off at 4:30 pm with a champagne and canapés reception, which will be followed by the fashion show itself. Once the graduate students showcase their London influenced works, more champagne bottles will be popped and a live string orchestra will celebrate their hard work and accomplishments. If that wasn’t enough to convince you, exclusive goodie bags will also be given out. So if you happen to be free from 4:30 pm to Midnight, RSVP with laura.leveson@edencancan.com to secure yourself a spot on the guest list.
Of course if you don’t have all evening to spare, you can still get your fashion and champagne kick by going to any Ted Baker store in and around London between 4 – 8:30 pm for their summer shopping party. For locations, please visit http://www.tedbakersummerevent.com/. If you end up in one of their Carnaby locations, you might as well stop by the Aqua store on 12 Fourbet's place as they are celebrating the launch of their store with complimentary drinks, fish and chips, and 30% off their clothes. The launch kicks off at 6 pm (-?) and is strictly guestlist so make sure to RSVP with portia@blow.co.uk.
And if none of those tickle your fancy, don’t worry there is a plan C, which is the MA textile design show ‘Unravel’ from 5 – 8:30 pm @ the MA Textile Design Studio, Chelsea College of Art and Design, 16 John Islip Street, London SW1P 4JU. Contact Ryan at mailto:r.wayne1@chelsea.arts.ac..uk for more details.
On Friday 28 May, the Chelsea College of Art & Design will be hosting the Foundation Show which will celebrate the achievements of their final year students. This exhibition and reception will be taking place from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm. To receive an invitation to this private view, contact info@chelsea.arts.ac.uk, or just ask me and I'll forward you the invite. The events will take place at 16 John Islip Street, London SW1P 4JU. But if you happen to be around Carnaby, make sure to go to 38 Carnaby St to check out the very temporary pop-up bar, made entirely of denim, which celebrates the launch of my-wardrobe.com's on line Denim Bar. Guests will be greeted with a martini from noon - 8 pm.
On Sunday 30 May, go enjoy music and drinks at the Old Blue Last’s bi-monthly flea market from noon – 6:00 pm. Although the drinks at this event wont be free, you wont break the bank rummaging through the cheap bric-a-brac and clothes.
On Tuesday 1 June, the Camberwell Space (Camberwell College of Arts, Peckham Road, London, SE5 8UF) will hold the opening night of a two-venue exhibition for the Colombian artist Mateo Lopez. Unlike your run of the mill art show, Lopez chooses to use his exhibition space by overlapping the production and display of his work rather than just the end result. The opening event, from 5 - 7:30 pm, will be an interactive evening in which guests are invited to create their own art with some direction from Lopez himself. Of course wine will be provided to reach one’s inner most subconscious and help make the finest of raw art.
